MIAA ACTION BEGINS
Emporia State is set to take on Nebraska-Kearney in their final nonconference match before a rematch with Fort Hays State opens MIAA action.
LAST TIME OUT
The Hornets traveled to Fort Hays State for a nonconference match against the Tigers which resulted in a 1-1 draw.
THE COACHES
Bryan Sailer is 107-85-33 in his 12th season at Emporia State and is the winningest coach in program history and fifth winningest coach in MIAA history. He has a career record of 166-108-35 that includes coaching four years at the community college level. He has led the Hornets to nine straight .500 or better regular seasons, six straight MIAA Tournaments and back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances.
Rob Breton is 1-20-3 in his second season at Nebraska-Kearney. He is 0-2 against ESU.
Tyson John is 14-3-8 in his second season at Fort Hays State. He is 0-1-2 against ESU.
SCOUTING THE HORNETS
Emporia State is 0-3-3 through the first four matches with three matches coming against opponents who made the NCAA Tournament last season and two against teams currently ranked in the top 25. The Hornets have recorded 67 shots with 33 attempts on goal and are led in scoring by
Mackenzie Dimarco who has two goals on the season.
Hadlie Lowe, an All-American transfer from Hutch CC has scored one goal on 10 shots.
Hannah Woolery has tallied 15 shots with nine attempts on goal from the midfield.
Joanie Westcoat continues to anchor the defense for the Hornets as she played 540 minutes this season.
ABOUT NEBRASKA-KEARNEY
The Lopers are 1-5 this season with a trio of losses coming by one goal. Nebraska-Kearney has 36 shots and five goals through their first six games with sophomore Corynne Olsen leading the way with two goals of her own.
