Emporia State tennis has three men advance to Sunday at the ITA Regional

September 18, 2023-The Emporia State men went a combined 7-6 in singles and doubles action on Friday and Saturday at the ITA Central Regional Championships in Topeka.
 
Harris Kossover won two matches on Saturday to advance to the consolation bracket finals in Flight B. HE fell in the championship match 7-6 (5), 7-6 (2) to Ahmed Abdelaziz of Neb.-Kearney. Lleyton Fosha earned a win on Saturday morning before falling in the quarterfinals of Flight B's consolation draw.
 
In Flight A Anton Sarunic fell in a third set tie breaker 1-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-6) to Washburn's Tommaso Cecchetti in the Round of 16 on Saturday.
 
Dominik Simunovic and Harrison Brown won two matches on Saturday to advance to the Consolation Semifinals while Sergio Vera Martin and Lleyton Fosha picked up one win before going down in the consolation quarterfinals.
 
Sarunic and Gwendal Mazuay lost in the round of 16 in the A Flight main draw to the #7 team in the country last year Alex Blanchar and Phil Exner of Ouachita Baptist 8-6.
 
The Emporia State women will compete in their ITA Fall Regional this weekend in Edmond, Okla. while the men's team will travel to Bolivar, Mo. to take part in the SBU Fall Invitational.
