TIME TO TUSSLE
Emporia State is set for the first home match of the season as they will take on Washburn before traveling west to take on Fort Hays State in a pair of nonconference matches.
LAST TIME OUT
The Hornets traveled to the Sunshine State for a pair of tough matches against #19 Tampa and Eckerd. Emporia State recorded 23 shots and 13 shots on goal but fell in both matches.
THE COACHES
Bryan Sailer is 107-84-31 in his 12th season at
Emporia State and is the winningest coach in program history and fifth winningest coach in MIAA history. He has a career record of 166-107-33 that includes coaching four years at the community college level. He has led the Hornets to nine straight .500 or better regular seasons, six straight MIAA Tournaments and back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances.
Davy Phillips is 47-43-8 in his sixth season at Washburn. He is 3-7 against Emporia State.
Tyson John is 14-3-8 in his second season at Fort Hays State. He is 0-1-2 against ESU.
SCOUTING THE HORNETS
Emporia State is 0-2-2 through the first four matches against two opponents that earned a postseason berth last season and two teams that are currently ranked in the top 25. The Hornets have tallied 44 shots and matched their opponents with 24 shots on goal.

Hannah Woolery and

ABOUT WASHBURN
The Ichabods went 11-6-2 last season have started the 2023 season 3-1 which includes a pair of shutout victories. Washburn is led in attack by Ana Muruzabal who has scored three goals and added an assist as well as Khloe Schuckman who has two goals and an assist. Schuckman earned First Team All-MIAA last season.
SERIES HISTORY
Washburn leads the all-time series 17-16-4 with the Hornets winning eight of the last 11 matches.

Emporia State concluded the 2022 regular season with a 2-0 win over Washburn as
Mackenzie Dimarco scored on an assist from
Haley Sparks before Sparks capped off the match with a goal of her own.
ABOUT FORT HAYS STATE
The Tigers are 3-0-1 this season following a 11-3-7 campaign last season. Fort Hays State is averaging two goals per game and are outshooting opponents 81-18 to begin the season. The Tiger attack is led by Hannah Mares who has scored four goals, including a hat-trick in the second match of the season.
