December 13, 2023-Emporia State receiver Tyler Kahmann was named Second-Team Associated Press All-American on Wednesday.
 
A First-Team All-MIAA receiver for the Hornets, Kahmann is leading the nation in touchdown catches with an Emporia State record 20 this season. He is ranked second in the nation in receptions, fourth in receiving yards, and sixth in scoring, points scored and total touchdowns. He has 101 catches for 1,234 yards on the season. He has had at least 100 yards receiving in seven of his last eight games and has caught a touchdown pass in eight straight games. 
 
He is the only player in the NCAA at any level to have 100 catches, 1,000 receiving yards and 20 touchdown catches this season.
 
In his career the junior from Haysville, Kan. has 182 receptions for 2,198 yards and 34 touchdowns.  His 34 touchdown catches are an Emporia State career record.  He is second in career touchdown receptions among active NCAA Division II players.
 
Kahmann earns the 20th AP All-American honor for Emporia State and is the fourth player to be named All-America by the AP under Coach Garin Higgins. Prior to 2017 season it was known as the AP Little All-America team and comprised of players from NCAA Division II, Division III and the NAIA.
