Mackenzie Dimarco recorded her third career hat trick, and in the process set the Emporia State career points record in the Hornets 4-1 win at Nebraska-Kearney on Friday night in Kearney, Neb.

The Lopers got on the board first thanks to a goal from Emma Middleton in the 14
th minute of play. She got behind the Emporia State defense and sent a ball into the back left side of the net from about 15 yards out on the right side.

The Hornets responded less than a minute later when
Hannah Woolery took a pass from
Alexis Cole and blasted a shot from 30 yards out the hit the bottom of the cross bar and bounced into the goal to make it 1-1just under 15 minutes into the match.

The score remained 1-1 at the half despite the Hornets having a 9-0 advantage on corner kicks and a 5-2 lead in shots in the first 45 minutes.

Just over five minutes into the second half Dimarco scored to break the Emporia State career points record and gave the Hornets the lead for good.Â
Kyleigh Roe booted a ball about 45 yards downfield and Dimarco outran the Loper defenders to gain control. She took one touch before shooting from 12 yards straight out and put it past the UNK keeper for a 2-1 lead.

Less than ten minutes last Emporia State won a 50-50 ball at midfield following a goal kick and
Haley Sparks was able to feed ahead to Dimarco. She raced past two defenders and when the keeper came out was able to put the ball past her from about 15 yards out to make it 3-1.

Dimarco would record her third goal of the match on a penalty kick following a Loper hand ball in the box. She put the ball into the upper right hand corner in the 72
nd minute to give the Hornets a 4-1 lead and wrap up the scoring. Â

For the match Emporia State outshot UNK 16-5 with a 9-3 advantage in shots on goal. The Hornets took and incredible 14 corners in the match while limiting the Lopers to just one corner kick.

Emporia State will be back in action on Sunday, September 18 when they open MIAA play at Fort Hays State. The Hornets and Tigers played to a 1-1 draw last Sunday in Emporia. Kick-off from the FHSU Soccer Stadium is set for 2:00 p.m.

Mackenzie Dimarco broke Brandie Booth's Emporia State career scoring record of 87 points (38 goals and 11 assists) set in 70 matches from 2002-05. Dimarco now has 92 points on 43 goals and six assists in just her 50
th match.
Dimarco became just the ninth MIAA player to score 90 career points and is the only player to do so in 50 or fewer matches.
Dimarco is the fifth leading active goal scorer and point scorer in NCAA Division II and the only active player with at least 90 points in 50 or fewer matches.
