April 30, 2022 – Emporia State fell in game two of the three-game series against Central Oklahoma 4-1 on Saturday afternoon.
Both teams were held scoreless in the first inning and the first run of the game came in the bottom of the second inning with Central Oklahoma crossing the plate.
The Hornets responded with their lone run in their next trip to the plate. To leadoff the third inning,
Chandler Bloomer drove the first pitch of the at-bat down the left field line for a double. Following, the leadoff double,
Mason Sturdy singled to score Bloomer and tie the game 1-1.
Central Oklahoma responded with a solo home run in the bottom half of the third inning and also managed to score one run in both the fourth and sixth innings to take a 4-1 advantage over Emporia State.
At the plate, six different Hornets recorded a hit and were led by
Chandler Bloomer who went 2-3 from the plate with a double and a run scored.
On the mound,
Aaron Bechtel started the game and went 5.0 innings allowing seven hits and three earned runs while striking out three batters.
Jarrett Seaton went 3.0 innings with three hits one unearned run allowed. Combined, Bechtel and Seaton stranded 13 Bronchos on base.
Emporia State will complete the series and the regular season against Central Oklahoma on Sunday afternoon. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. TheHornets can qualify for the MIAA Tournament with a win or losses by Newman and Northwest Missouri on Sunday.
