April 18, 2022-Playing their final home matches in the inaugural season of the Kossover Family Tennis Complex, the Emporia State women won 7-0 over McPherson while the men fell 5-2 to the 24
th ranked team in the NAIA.

The Hornet women swept the three doubles contests to start the dual.Â
Karen Santiago Sanchez and
Viktoria Mackova won 6-4 at #1 while
Paige Stranghoner and Andrea Sanchez won 6-4 at #3.Â
Micaela McSpadden and
Kelsie Burr made it a clean sweep with a 7-6 victory at #2 doubles.
Emporia State dominated at the top of the order, winning #1-4 in straight sets and not losing more than four games in any set in the process.Â
Kelsie Burr won 7-6, 6-3 at #5 while
Caroline Henry won in a third set tiebreaker 4-6, 6-2, 1-0 (10-5) at #6 singles.

McPherson men 5, ESU 2
Theo Belmonte and
Sergio Vera continued their hot streak at #1 doubles as they won their third straight match with a 6-4 win. McPherson picked up the wins at #2 and #3 to take a 1- 0 lead after doubles.
Belmonte and Vera gave Emporia State their two match wins in singles play as well. Belmonte came from behind to win 2-6, 6-4, 1-0 (11-9) at #2 singles while Vera cruised to a 6-3, 6-4 win at #4 singles.Â

Both the men and women travel to Winfield for non-conference duals against Southwestern on Tuesday before they wrap up regular season play on Friday at Newman. First serve for both MIAA duals is set for 2:00 p.m. at the Riverside Tennis Courts in Wichita, Kan.
