SECOND HALF COSTS LADY HORNETS IN LOSS AT ROGERS STATE

Emporia State falls 77-59 to Rogers State

February 5, 2022-The Lady Hornets were outscored 41-23 in the second half of a 77-59 loss at Rogers State on Saturday afternoon in Claremore, Okla.
 
Emporia State used an 11-0 run to take a 15-8 lead with 4:37 left in the first and ended the quarter with a 21-14 lead.  The Hillcats shot 66.7% from the field in the second quarter as they outscored the Lady Hornets 22-15 as the teams went to the locker rooms tied at 36.
 
Karsen Schultz hit a three-pointer to open the second half for ESU but Rogers State responded with a 14-0 run to take a 50-39 lead with 4:30 left in the quarter.  The Lady Hornets closed to within 52-47 on a Kali Martin jumper with 1:45 left but the Hillcats scored the final seven points of the period to go to the fourth up 59-47. The Hillcats used a 12-0 run to take their biggest lead of the game at 75-52 with 3:36 left in the game.
 
Tre'Zure Jobe had 12 points and Emily Weathers had 11 for Emporia State.  The Lady Hornets were outrebounded 39-20 with Rogers State's Jordan Lewis pulling 19 boards by herself.
 
Emporia State is back in action on Tuesday,February 8 when they play host to Northwest Missouri.  Tip-off from WL White Auditorium is set for 5:30 p.m.
 
NOTES
Tre'Zure Jobe now has 1,384 points to rank 16th on the Lady Hornets all-time scoring list. She is now tied with Jamie Augustyn for tenth on the Lady Hornets all-time list with 137 career made three-pointers.
