COLD SHOOTING NIGHT COSTS LADY HORNETS IN LOSS TO NORTHWEST MISSOURI

Emporia STate falls 7-54 to Bearcats

February 8, 2022-The Lady Hornets shot just 33.9% in a 70-54 loss to Northwest Missouri on Tuesday night in White Auditorium.
 
Emporia State led 14-12 after the first period as Ehlaina Hartman scored 11 points in the opening ten minutes.  The Bearcats won the second quarter 20-15 hitting three of five from beyond the arc in the period to take a 32-29 lead to the locker rooms.
 
Northwest started the third period with an 8-2 run to go up 40-31 with 6:14 left in the period. Emporia State closed to within four points at 40-36 on an old fashioned three-point play by Victoria Price with 4:57 left.  NWMSU answered with a 9-0 run to take a 13 point lead with 1:18 left and led 51-40 going to the fourth.
 
The deficit would reach 18 points with 4:57 left before the Lady Hornets went on 10-4 run to pull within 66-54 with 1:30 left.
 
Ehlaina Hartman and Kali Martin both scored 16 points for Emporia State and Victoria Price added 14 points.  Karsen Schultz was the leading rebounder for the Lady Hornets but was scoreless on five shots. 

Emporia State is back in action on Saturday when they play host to Lincoln.  Tip-off is set for 1:30 p.m. in White Auditorium.
