February 28, 2022 – Emporia State fell behind early and was unable to climb back as they took an 8-4 loss against Northeastern State in the series final Monday afternoon from Glennen Field.

After a scoreless first inning, Northeastern State took an early lead thanks to solo home run. The Riverhawks struck with two more runs in the third inning with an RBI groundout from Brayden Rodden. C.D. White would make the score 3-0 with an RBI single for his second RBI of the game.

Emporia State would find its way onto the scoreboard as TJ Racherbaumer drove a ball to straight away center field for a solo blast to trim the deficit to 3-1.

More trouble would arise for the Hornets in the fifth inning as the Riverhawks tallied 3 RBI hits including a solo home run by Colin Klingensmith.

The bottom half of the fifth would see Emporia State add a second run from the bat of Brenden Tauber with an RBI single. The Hornets would inch closer in the sixth inning. Quinn Cherry reached on a two-out error to cut the lead to 6-3. In the next at-bat, Racherbaumer nearly tied the game as his RBI double went off the top of the right field wall to make the score 6-4.
