January 13, 2022-The Lady Hornets hit just two of 23 three-pointers while Pittsburg State connected on 11 of 26 from beyond the arc in an 82-56 Gorilla victory on Thursday night in Pittsburg, Kan.

The teams were tied at 2-2 when Pittsburg State went on an 8-2 run to take a 10-4 lead with 4:45 left in the first quarter.
Kali Martin and
Ehlaina Hartman pulled the Lady Hornets within 10-8 with 3:48 remaining. The Gorillas scored the next six points to go up 16-8 with 2:36 left.Â
Karsen Schultz scored with 42 seconds left to pull Emporia State with 20-15. The Gorillas got a three-pointer from Sydnee Crain to end the period and give Pitt State a 23-15 lead.

Crain hit another three to open the second quarter and Julia Johnson hit a free throw with 8:29 left to extend the run to 7-0. The Lady Hornets would not get within double digits the rest of the night.
Tre'Zure Jobe hit a three-pointer to pull Emporia State within 12 with 45 seconds left in the half but the Gorillas scored the final five points to take a 46-29 lead to the locker rooms.

Pittsburg State outscored the Lady Hornets 17-11 in the third quarter to lead 63-40 headed to the fourth. Martin, Schultz and
Emily Weathers combined on a 6-0 run in the fourth quarter to pull Emporia State within 71-52 with 6:08 left. The Gorillas ended the game on an 8-2 run over the final 3:20 for the final score.

Emporia State had ten players score but
Tre'Zure Jobe was the only Lady Hornet in double figures with 12 points and four assists. Emporia State was held to a season low two of 23 (.087) from beyond the three-point line while Pittsburg State went 11 of 26 (.423) from beyond the arc.

Emporia State is back in action on Saturday when they travel to Missouri Southern. Tip-off from the Leggett & Platt Athletic Center in Joplin, Mo. is set for 1:30 p.m.

Jobe now has 1,308 points to pass Jurgita Kausaite (1,305 points from 1997-99) for 19th on the Lady Hornets all-time scoring list. She needs 15 points to tie Amy Redmon (1,323 points from 1988-92) for 18th on the list.
