January 10, 2022-Emporia State's Tray Buchanan, the leading scorer in NCAA Division II this season, has earned his third MIAA Men's Basketball Player of the Week award. Buchanan averaged 30.0 points, 4.5 rebound and 4.5 assists as Emporia State rank their winning streak to five games.

The grad transfer scored 27 points with six assists, four rebounds and three steals in the Hornets 91-59 victory at Central Missouri.  He hit a career high six three-pointers and tied his career high with six assists in 31 minutes as the Hornets recorded their largest margin of victory over the Mules in school history.

Playing without second leading scorer Jumah'Ri Turner who was out due to illness, he scored 33 points, his fourth 30 point effort of the season, with five rebounds and three assists in Emporia State's 76-64 home win over Missouri Western.  He had three-pointers to start and end a 12-3 run that gave the Hornets their largest lead of the day at 69-50 with 8:05 left.

He has scored at least 20 points in 11 straight games, the longest such streak by a Hornet since Ryan Sprecker scored at least 20 in the first 15 games of the 1988-89 season.  He has led Emporia State to their best record after 15 games since going 12-3 in the 2008-09 season.

The Hornets are scheduled to be back in action on Thursday, January 13 when they travel to Pittsburg State.  Tip-off from John Lance Arena in Pittsburg, Kan. is set for 7:30 p.m.
