INTO THE MOUNTAINS
The #15 Hornets make the trip out west to Colorado to take on CSU-Pueblo and Colorado Christian. This comes off a pair of opening weekend victories in St. Joseph, Mo.

THE COACHES
Bryan Sailer is 77-72-24 in his tenth year at Emporia State and is the winningest coach in program history. He has a career record of 136-95-26 that includes coaching four years at the community college level. He has led the Hornets to six straight .500 or better regular seasons, four straight MIAA Tournaments and their first ever NCAA Tournament appearance. He is 0-1-0 against CSU-Pueblo and is coaching against Colorado Christian for the first time.
Sierra Cardneas is 31-26-9 in her fifth season at CSU-Pueblo. She is 1-0-0 against Emporia State.
Tammy McPherson is in her 11th season at Concordia St. Paul. She is coaching against Emporia State for the first time.

SCOUTING THE HORNETS
Emporia State is 2-0-0 on the season and ranked #15 in the United Soccer Coaches national poll. They won their opener against Rockhurst 1-0 with Hannah Woolery scored the game winner in the 86th minute. They followed with a 5-2 win over Concordia-St. Paul. After trailing 1-2 at halftime, the Hornets scored four second half goals for the win. Five different Hornets have scored on the season. Hannah Woolery scored against Rockhurst and provided an assist against CSP. Mackenzie Dimarco scored two against Concordia-St. Paul, while Aislinn Hughes, Kyleigh Roe and Joanie Westcoat each scored one. The Hornets played without defender Ashlyn Lakin who was on a nursing rotation for class.

SCOUTING CSU-PUEBLO
The Timberwolves have started the season 0-2-0 after road games against Eastern New Mexico and Angelo State. CSU-Pueblo was 6-10-2 in the last full season.

SERIES HISTORY
CSU-Pueblo leads the all-time series 1-0-0, winning the only previous matchup 1-0 in overtime in 2016.

LAST TIME VS. THE TIMBERWOLVES
In the previous matchup, CSU-Pueblo held the attacking advantage for much of the first half with more shots and corner kicks than Emporia State. These roles flipped in the second half in the Hornets' favor however the game remained scoreless through regulation. The Timberwolves were able to score a goal from a scramble in the first overtime period to win 1-0.

SCOUTING COLORADO CHRISTIAN
The Cougars have started the season 1-1-0 after falling to Angelo State and defeating Eastern New Mexico. In the previos full season, Colorado Christian was 4-11-1.

This is the first ever matchup between the Hornets and the Cougars.
