Hannah Woolery scored in the 87
th minute to give Emporia State a season opening 1-0 win over Rockhurst on Friday afternoon in St. Joseph, Mo.

The two teams were scoreless through the first 86 minutes of action. The Hornets had a 7-2 advantage on shots in the opening half, but possession time was slightly in the Hawks favor.

Emporia State turned up the heat in the second half, taking 11 shots with eight of them on goal in the final 45 minutes.Â
Joanie Westcoat was able to find Woolery off a corner kick with just 3:39 left in the match for the game winner.

For the match the Hornets outshot the Hawks 18-6 with an 11-2 advantage in shots on goal.
Mackenzie Dimarco had five shots on goal while
Angie Palmer and Woolery each had two.
Jillian Patton only faced two shots as she recorded the shutout in goal for the Hornets.

Emporia State is back in action on Sunday, September 5 when they take on Concordia-St. Paul at Spratt Stadium in St. Joseph, Mo.
