GETTING STARTED FOR REAL
The #5 Emporia State soccer team continues a three game home stand this weekend starting with the final non-conference match against Neb.-Kearney. The MIAA season will begin on Sunday with a rematch of the only tie on the Hornets schedule against Fort Hays State.

LAST TIME OUT
In the home opener, Emporia State went head-to-head with Washburn in the Turnpike Tussle. Hannah Woolery started things off just nine minutes into the match with a free-kick goal from 30 yards out. Despite a strong start by the Hornets, the Ichabods responded roughly ten minutes later as Washburn scored a long-range goal of their own. The game-winning goal for the Hornets came with 25 minutes left as Hannah Woolery scored again, this time from a header following an Ashlynn Lakin flip throw-in.

THE COACHES
Bryan Sailer is 82-72-25 in his tenth year at Emporia State and is the winningest coach in program history. He has a career record of 141-95-27 that includes coaching four years at the community college level. He has led the Hornets to six straight .500 or better regular seasons, four straight MIAA Tournaments and their first ever NCAA Tournament appearance. He is 7-5-3 against Neb.-Kearney and is 4-8-5 against Fort Hays State
Chloe Roberts is in her fourth season and is 11-32-11 at Neb.-Kearney. She is 0-5-1 against Emporia State.
Blake Reynolds is 31-19-8 in his fourth season at FHSU. He is 2-3-1 against Emporia State.

SCOUTING THE HORNETS
Emporia State is 5-0-1 on the season and ranked #5 in the nation. They are leading the MIAA in both points and goals. Hannah Woolery leads the MIAA in goals with six in six games.

ABOUT NEBRASKA-KEARNEY
The Lopers have started the season 1-5-0 after winning their opening match. They lead the MIAA in saves.

LAST TIME VS. THE LOPERS
In the previous matchup, the Hornets dictated the flow of the game, out shooting the Lopers 19-2 over the course of the game. The breakthrough came in the first overtime with Mackenzie Dimarco scoring a golden goal to give Emporia State a 1-0 victory.

ABOUT FORT HAYS STATE
The Tigers have started the season 3-1-2 including a draw last weekend with Emporia State. The Tigers lead the MIAA in goals allowed and save percentage.

SERIES HISTORY
Fort Hays State leads the all-time series 8-4-5.

LAST TIME VS. TIGERS
Last weekend, the Hornets traveled to Hays to take on the Tigers. Hannah Woolery scored halfway through the first period to put the Hornets on top. The Tigers responded with a goal with just under 30 minutes remaining and the game remained tied going into overtime. Despite out shooting the Tigers, the Hornets were unable to score as the match ended in a tie after two overtime periods.

The Hornets take on Neb.-Kearney on Sept. 24. Kick-off is set for 3:00 p.m. on the ESU Pitch.
