April 24, 2021-In a dual that saw four of the six singles matches go to a third set, Emporia State fell 5-2 to Neb.-Kearney on Saturday at the EHS Courts.

The Hornets dropped all three doubles matches and headed into singles play down 1-0.Â
Emma Biggs lost 6-4, 6-1 at #6 to start singles and
Kelsie Burr fell 0-6, 6-4, 6-1 at #5 as the Lopers took a 3-0 lead.

Karen Santiago Sanchez got Emporia State on the board with a 7-6, 6-1 win at #2 singles but Neb.-Kearney was able to clinch with a 1-6, 6-2, 6-1 win at #1 by Melisa Becerra over Cyrielle  Peyroche.Â
Viktoria Mackova also went three sets at #3 singles before falling 6-7, 6-2, 6-4. Silvana Caceras gave Emporia State their other point with a 3-6, 7-6, 1-0 )10-4) win at #4 singles.

With the loss, Emporia State was eliminated from the MIAA Tournament and will end the season on Sunday when the play host to Fort Hays State. First serve from the EHS Courts is set for 10:30 a.m.
