April 11, 2021-For the second time in three duals the Emporia State women's tennis team forced the deciding matches to three sets before falling as they dropped a 5-2 decision to Northeastern State no Sunday at the EHS Courts.

The RiverHawks won all three doubles matches to take a 1-0 lead into singles.Â
Viktoria Mackova evened the dual at 1-1 with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Vera Carvalho at #3 singles. Northeastern State went up 2-1 with a win at #6 singles before
Cyrielle Peyroche defeated Kristela Vidnere 6-4, 7-6 at #1 singles to even things up at 2-2.Â

The final three matches on the court all went to three sets.Â
Karen Santiago Sanchez won her first set at #2 before falling 5-7, 6-1, 6-1 to Maria Popova. After dropping the first set
Kelsie Burr took the second before falling to Sofia Lundgren 6-3, 5-7, 7-6 at #5 singles as the RiverHawks clinched the dual win. Silvana Caceras also went three sets before falling 5-7, 6-2, 7-5 to Belinda Jayaprakash at #4 singles.

Emporia State will take a day off before stepping out of conference play on Tuesday when both the men and women travel to McPherson College. First serve from the Bulldog Tennis Center in McPherson, Kan. is set for 2:00 p.m.
