February 6, 2021-The Lady Hornets scored the first 11 points of the game and never looked back in a79-56 win over Rogers State on Saturday afternoon in White Auditorium.

Tre'Zure Jobe hit back to back three-pointers to get the scoring started.Â
Fredricka Sheats grabbed a rebound and went coast to coast before Jobe hit another three-pointer to make it 11-0 with 7:05 left in the first quarter. The Hillcats would use a 9-3 run to cut the deficit to 14-9 with 5:15 left in the quarter before Emporia State went on a 12-0 run capped by an
Ehlaina Hartman put back with 43 seconds left. After a Bailey Kliewer bucket Hartman hit a jumper at the buzzer to give the Lady Hornets a 28-11 lead after one quarter.

After shooting 52.6% from the field and 66.7% from beyond the three-point line in the opening period, the Lady Hornets cooled off considerably. Emporia State did not score for the first 5:10 of the quarter, but only allowed the Hillcats a 7-0 run before
Emily Weathers scored with 4:50 left to make it 30-18. The teams traded scores the rest of the half as Emporia State took a 39-27 lead into the break.

The scoring started slowly in the third quarter for Emporia State as well, with Sheats scoring the first bucket with 8:48 left on a put back to give the Lady Hornets a 41-27 lead. Katrina Christian got a layup and a three-pointer for the Hillcats to pull them within 11 at 43-32 with 8:02 remaining in the quarter. Emporia State put the game away with a 15-3 run bookended by three-pointers from
Karsen Schultz and Sheats as the Lady Hornets went up 58-35 with 1:19 left in the third.

The Hillcats would not get closer than 14 points, that coming with 4:54 left, in the fourth quarter. An 11-2 run gave Emporia State their largest lead of the day at 79-55 before settling for the 79-56 victory.

The Lady Hornets were limited to just seven healthy players for the game and all seven scored, had a rebound, an assist and a steal.Â
Tre'Zure Jobe led Emporia State with 19 points and was joined in double figures by
Karsen Schultz with 14 points,
Fredricka Sheats and
Emily Weathers with 13 each and
Ehlaina Hartman with 11 points. Â Sheats had 12 rebounds to record her second double-double.

The Lady Hornets are back in action on Tuesday when they play host to Central Missouri. Tip-off is set for 6:00 p.m. in White Auditorium.
