February 4, 2021-The Lady Hornets overcame a season high 15 three-pointers from Northeastern State in an 86-75 Emporia State victory on Thursday night in White Auditorium.

The RiverHawks, who entered the game averaging just 3.9 made three pointers on 27% shooting from beyond the arc hit two of their first three treys and led 10-6 four minutes into the contest. The Lady Hornets responded with a 13-4 run and went up 19-14 with 2:28 left on a
Sidney Tinner put back.Â
Tre'Zure Jobe gave Emporia State their biggest lead of the period at 23-16 on a pair of free throws with 40 seconds left. Northeastern State went eight for 11 from the field in opening ten minutes and still trailed 24-19 as Emporia State scored ten points off seven first quarter turnovers by the RiverHawks.

Jobe took over in the second quarter as she scored 14 points on six of six shooting with two assists in the period. The RiverHawks had pulled within a point at 26-25 with 7:51 to play in the half but
Fredricka Sheats and Jobe hit back to back three-pointers to put the Lady Hornets up 32-25 with 7:09 left. Emporia State led 39-31 with 4:54 left when Jobe went to work. She scored inside to make a double digit lead with 4:33 left and then scored inside again to make it 43-31 with 3:47 left. A RiverHawk turnover led to a Jobe three-pointer with 3:15 left to make it 46-31. Northeastern State broke the 7-0 Jobe run with a Tess Talo Tomokino layup with 2:53 left but Jobe got a steal and lay up with 2:22 left as she scored nine points in just over two minutes.   The Lady Hornets would then go on a two minute scoring drought as the RiverHawks closed to within 48-40 with 26 seconds left but Jobe scored with nine seconds left to give Emporia State a 50-40 lead at the break.Â

Emporia State forced 11 first half turnovers resulting in a 17-0 advantage in points off turnovers in the first half. That off set 59.3% shooting by Northeastern State, including a seven of 12 effort from beyond the arc that equaled their previous season high in made threes for a game.

Northeastern State opened the second half on a 7-3 run as Emporia State called timeout with 7:20 left in the quarter leading 53-47. Jobe hit a three pointer out of the timeout but Cenia Hayes answered with a three of her own to make it 56-50 with 6:30 left.  The Lady Hornets then went on an 11-0 run capped by
Ehlaina Hartman's three-pointer with 3:33 remaining in the period as ESU took a 67-50 lead. The RiverHawks would not get closer than 11 points the rest of the game as the Lady Hornets led 71-58 heading into the fourth quarter.

Morgan Lee hit a three-pointer with 5:13 left in the game to bring the RiverHawks within 12 at 77-65. Jobe would score the buckets around a Hartman three-pointer for a 7-0 run to give the Lady Hornets their biggest lead of the night at 84-65 with 2:33 left. Northeastern State scored the final eight points to make the final score 86-75.

Tre'Zure Jobe bounced back from three straight games with less than 20 points to score 29 points with five rebounds, four steals and three assists.Â
Ehlaina Hartman scored 19 points, Karsen Schulz 14 and
Fredricka Sheats 13 points to join her in double figures. Every Lady Hornet that played scored and pulled at least two rebounds on the night.
