#25 LADY HORNETS RUN PAST LINCOLN 90-57 ON SATURDAY IN JEFFERSON CITY

Three Lady Hornets score at least 20 points in win

February 13, 2021-For the first time since 2003 the #25 Lady Hornets had three players score 20 points in the same game in a 90-57 victory at Lincoln on Saturday afternoon.
 
Playing for the second time in less than 48 hours, the Blue Tigers carries over some of their momentum from the fourth quarter of the game on Thursday as they twice led by as many as three points in the opening period and led 21-20 headed to the second. 
 
Emporia State scored the first ten points of the second quarter to take the lead for good.  After shooting just 38% from the field in the opening period, the Lady Hornets heated up to 50% in the second, draining eight of 16 shots with three three-pointers.   Emporia State led 40-32 headed to the lockerroom.
 
Lincoln scored the first four points of the second half to cut the deficit to four when the Lady Hornets went on a 14-0 run with Ehlaina Hartman scoring 11 of the points.  Hartman's three-pointer with 5:25 left gave Emporia State a 54-37 lead. Vivian Chigbu broke the run for the Blue Tigers with 4:03 left before the Lady Hornets scored the next 13 points to make it a 27-2 run and take a 67-39 lead with 38 seconds left in the quarter.
Emporia State would take a 69-42 lead into the fourth quarter and their lead would not drop below 23 before coasting to the 90-57 victory.
 
Ehlaina Hartman led the Lady Hornets with 26 points on 11 of 14 shooting while Fredricka Sheats recorded her fourth straight double-double with 24 points and 11 rebounds and Tre'Zure Jobe scored 21 points.  Daley Handy scored eight points and tied her career high with 12 rebounds.
 
After playing eight games in five cities over 17 days, the Lady Hornets will have four days off before playing host to Northwest Missouri on Thursday, February 18.  Tip-off from White Auditorium is set for 5:30 p.m.

NOTES:
It was the first time three Lady Hornets have scored at least 20 points in the same game since January 11, 2003 when Kristie McClain scored 25, Nicole Patry 22 and Nicole Switzer 21 points in an 87-73 win over Truman.
