November 24, 2021-A dominating third quarter helped the Lady Hornets bounced back from their first loss of the season with a convincing 91-49 victory over Bethel on Wednesday evening in White Auditorium.

Emporia State never trailed in the contest but they were tied at 9-9 with 5:52 left in the first quarter. They then went on an 11-2 run take a 20-11 lead with 2:33 left in the period and led 26-14 after one.Â

Joni Calzonetti hit a three to open the second quarter for the Threshers but the Lady Hornets rattled off eight straight points to double up the score at 34-17 with 8:26 left in the half. Each team ended up scoring 17 points in the second quarter as Emporia State took a 43-31 lead into the locker rooms.

The game was blown open in the third quarter. The Lady Hornets opened the period with a 9-2 run to take a 52-33 lead with 6:28 left. A Josie Stupey free throw with 6:06 left would be the last score of the period for Bethel as Emporia State scored the final 18 points of the quarter and led 70-34 going to the fourth.

Back to back three-pointers from
Fredricka Sheats and
Tre'Zure Jobe pushed the run to 24 points at 76-34 with 7:55 left in the game.
Kylee Scheer gave Emporia State their biggest lead of the game at 85-40 with 3:55 left before settling for the 91-49 final.

Tre'Zure Jobe had 22 points and
Fredricka Sheats added 19 while
Victoria Price had 17 for Emporia State.Â
Emily Weathers joined them in double figures with ten points.
Karsen Schultz did not score for the Lady Hornets but had a game high nine rebounds, eight assists and three steals.

The Lady Hornets will be back in action on Saturday evening when they play host to Peru State. Tip-off is set for 5:00 p.m. in White Auditorium.
