Craig Doty has announced that Jordan Brown will be attending Emporia State next year and playing for the Hornets.
Brown is a 6-4 guard from Lawrence, Kan. He will play his senior year for Lawrence Free State HS after playing the previous three seasons at Basehor-Linwood HS. Â
"We are thrilled to add Jordan Brown to our program," said Doty. "JB can play both guard positions, he can get the ball in the paint, he shoots it, and he plays with a chip on his shoulder."
Brown is a two-time Class 5A All-State selection by both the Wichita Eagle and Sports In Kansas while at Basehor-Linwood HS. He scored 885 points combined as a sophomore and junior on his way to First-Team All-United Kansas Conference honors. He is ranked first and second in UKC history for made three-pointers in a conference season, hitting 33 treys as a sophomore.
"I've know Jordan's dad and mom for nearly a decade. Jordan is a coach's kid having grown up in the University of Saint Mary gym where his dad (Troy) is the head men's basketball coach." said Doty. "He is a multi-sport star and is a talent on the football field as well. Jordan is also a Kansas kid which Emporia State fans will appreciate. He has relationships with many of our current and former student-athletes. Jordan checks a lot of boxes and is an incredible fit for our university."
The Hornets open the 2021-22 season this weekend at the MIAA-GAC Challenge in Hays, Kan. Emporia State will play Southwestern Oklahoma on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Arkansas Tech on Sunday at 5:00 p.m. Â
