October 8, 2021-Fourth ranked Emporia State improved to 10-0-1 on the season and 4-0-0 in the MIAA with a 1-0 win over Rogers State on Friday afternoon.

The two teams battled to a scoreless first half. The Hornets outshot the Hillcats 9-4 in the opening 45 minutes but RSU had a 3-2 advantage on corner kicks and too the only shot on goal.

Emporia State came out firing in the second half with four shots in the first ten minutes, capped by Gabby Crowell's rebound goal 9:54 into the second half.

The Hornet defense would make that hold up as they limited the Hillcats to just three shots in the second half. They were all on goal and
Jillian Patton saved all of them to post her third individual shut out of the season and 16
th of her career.

Emporia State ended the match with a 21-7 advantage in shots with an 8-4 edge in shots on goal.

The Hornets are back in action on Sunday when they play host to Northeastern State. Kick-off from the ESU Pitch is set for 2:00 p.m.

Notes:
This is the third straight season Emporia State has won at least ten matches and the fifth time in the 20 year history of the program.
It was the school record sixth straight win this season.
The Hornets are on a 22 match unbeaten (21 wins) streak at home dating back to the 2017 season.
