October 3, 2021-Sixth ranked Emporia State dominated time of possession, corners and shots in a 4-1 win at Northwest Missouri on Sunday afternoon to improve to 9-0-1 on the season.

Mackenzie Dimarco got things started less than two minutes into the match for the Hornets. She took the ball at midfield and ran past the Bearcat defense to score from about eight yards out to give ESU a 1-0 lead.

It would stay until the 34
th minute when
Ashlyn Lakin fed
Aislinn Hughes off a throw to give Emporia State a 2-0 lead at the break.

Northwest Missouri came out of the halftime and got on the board with a goal from Teagan Blackburn from right in front of the goal at ten yards out to make it 2-1 just five and a half minutes into the half. The Hornets had an answer less than five minutes later. Dimarco got the ball on the logo about 45 yards out and ran past one defender, then crossed over another Bearcat before putting the ball in the net past the keeper to give Emporia State a 3-1 lead.

 The Hornets got their final goal in the 67
th minute when
Haley Sparks got a header under the cross bar following a corner kick from
Hannah Woolery.

For the match Emporia State had a 23-12 advantage in shots, a 14-4 advantage in shots on goal, led 6-1 in corner kicks and possessed the ball for 54% of the match with 68% of that time in their attacking end.

The #6 Hornets will return to the ESU Pitch on Friday, October 8 to take on Rogers State. Kick-off is set for 3:00 p.m.

Emporia State is the first MIAA team to be undefeated after ten matches since Central Oklahoma opened the 2018 season 16-0-0.
