October 23, 2021 – Emporia State traveled to Warrensburg, Missouri to take on #3 Central Missouri on Saturday evening. The Hornets fell to the Jennies 3-0.
In the first set, the Jennies took control from the beginning with a 5-1 lead over the Hornets. The lead grew even larger as they opened a 16-3 lead over Emporia State. The Hornets responded well from this point, but the Jennies were able to take the first set 25-9.
The second set was like the first for the Hornets. A large lead opened again with an 18-4 lead for the Jennies. The Hornets played traded points with the Jennies from this point but could not stop Central Missouri from taking the second set 25-10.
The third set was different from the first two, with Emporia State making things more challenging for the #3 Jennies. The Jennies held a 13-5 lead midway through the third set which led to the Hornets and Jennies trading points the remainder of the set. Central Missouri took the third set 25-18 and the match 3-0 over Emporia State.
Orianna Clements led the way for Emporia State with 9 kills.
Riley Bernskoetter tallied 17 assists for the Hornets.
Rylie Fornelli led the way in defense with 14 digs.
Emporia State will return to action on Tuesday, October 26
th from White Auditorium as they take on #2 Washburn. The match is scheduled to begin at 6:00 p.m.
