October 19, 2021 – Emporia State took on #16 Nebraska-Kearney Tuesday evening from White Auditorium. The Hornets fell 3-0 to the Lopers.
In the first set, Nebraska-Kearney jumped out to an 8-3 lead over Emporia State, forcing the Hornets to use a timeout. The lead was only increased following the timeout with the Lopers taking a 21-8 lead before the Hornets called their second timeout. The Lopers went on to win the first set 25-11.
The second set was similar to the first as the Lopers opened an early lead getting up 8-3 over the Hornets. Three out of four points were scored by the Hornets to make the score 9-6 before the Lopers took back control of the set. Nebraska-Kearney went on to take the second set 25-12 over Emporia State.
Emporia State got off to a strong start in the third set. The Hornets scored back-to-back points to tie the set at 10. The Lopers responded with an 8-1 run and continued the momentum to a 25-14 victory in the third set and a 3-0 win in the match over the Hornets.
Orianna Clements recorded 11 kills on a .333 attack percentage for the Hornets. 
Riley Bernskoetter tallied 19 assists on the evening. 
Rylie Fornelli led the way on defense with 14 digs.
The Hornets will be back in action this weekend on Saturday, October 23
rd as they travel to Warrensburg, MO to take on Central Missouri. The match is scheduled to begin at 6:00 p.m.
