September 8, 2019-Emporia State got a shut out from
Jillian Patton and
Mackenzie Dimarco scored her first career goal as the Hornets defeated Lindenwood 1-0 on Sunday afternoon at the Stoney Creek Hotel Classic in St. Joseph, Mo.

The teams battled to a scoreless tie in the first 45 minutes with Patton recording all four of her saves in the opening 23 minutes. The Hornets would outshoot the Lions 2-0 the rest of the half.

Dimarco, the second leading scorer in Missouri High School history, got her first collegiate goal less than two minutes into the second half off an assist from Gabby Crowell to give Emporia State the lead.

The Hornet defense stiffened up and did not allow a shot over the final 67 minutes of action as Emporia State evened their record at 1-1-0.

Emporia State will travel to Texas next weekend for a pair of matches. The Hornets will play at Midwestern State on Friday and then head to Texas A&M-Commerce on Sunday afternoon.
