April 15, 2019-The Emporia State men and women were swept by nationally ranked Southwest Baptist teams on Monday in Bolivar, Mo. The Hornet women fell 6-1 to the #28 Bearcats while the men were shutout 7-0 by #13 Southwest Baptist.
Silvana Caceres got the lone victory for Emporia State picking up a 6-0, 6-0 win at #6 singles.
Charles Gortzounian had the best showing for the Hornet men as he took #32 Adham Gaber to three sets before losing 6-1, 6-7 (7-1), 6-0 at #1 singles.
Emporia State is back in action on Tuesday as they take on Lindenwood in St. Charles, Mo. The winner of the men's dual will take the final spot in the MIAA Tournament April 26-28 in Oklahoma City, Okla. at the Oklahoma City Tennis Center.
