EMPORIA STATE TENNIS FALLS TO WASHBURN AT EHS COURTS

Women drop 5-2 dual, men lose 6-1

March 31, 2019-Emporia State fell in both the men's and women's editions of the Tennis Turnpike Tussle on Sunday at the EHS Courts.  The Hornet women fell 5-2 to the fifth ranked Ichabods while the Emporia State men lost 6-1.
 
Viktoria Mackova and Karen Santiago got the two wins for the Emporia State women.  Mackova defeated Logan Morrissey 6-4, 3-6, 1-0 (10-4) at #3 singles while Santiago picked up a 6-4, 7-6 (7-4) at #6 singles over Madison Lysaught.
 
Andy Graf earned the only point for the Hornet men. He defeated Chase Brill 6-2, 7-5 at #6 singles.  Charles Gortzounian and Taylor Nelson also won 7-6 (7-3) at #2 doubles although Washburn won at #1 and #3 to earn the doubles point.
 
The women are scheduled to play host to Central Oklahoma on Friday, April 5.  First serve at the Milton Courts in the Kossover Tennis Complex is set for 2:00 p.m.  The men are off until April 11 when both teams travel to St. Charles, Mo. to take on Lindenwood.
