March 24, 2019-The Emporia State tennis teams split a pair of non-conference duals with Augustana on Sunday at the EHS Courts. The Hornet men won 7-0 while the women fell 4-2 with one match left unfinished.
The Emporia State men made quick work of the Vikings, winning all three doubles matches and sweeping the singles play all in straight sets.
Camila Ramos and Silvana Caceres got the Hornet women's only win in doubles at #3 as Augustana took the 1-0 lead into singles action. Karen Santiago won 6-4, 6-4 at #6 and Viktoria Mackova won in three sets 4-6, 6-0, 6-4 at #3 for Emporia State's points.
The next action for the Hornets will be the tennis edition of the Turnpike Tussle. The women will play on Thursday and the men on Friday on the Milton Courts at the Kossover Complex on the Emporia State campus.
