November 17, 2019-Emporia State forced 23 turnovers and placed four players in double figures as the Lady Hornets defeated Northern State 75-57 on Sunday afternoon in Aberdeen, S.D.

The Lady Hornets jumped out to an 11-2 lead and never trailed in the contest. Â
Tre'Zure Jobe gave Emporia State a 21-8 lead at the end of the first quarter.Â

A 6-1 run to start the second quarter put the Lady Hornets up 27-9 with 8:24 left in the half and forced Northern State to call their second timeout of the game. The Wolves would respond with an 18-4 run of their own over the next five minutes to cut the ESU lead to 31-27 with 3:14 left in the half.
Morgan Laudan broke the run with a three-pointer for the Lady Hornets and
Mollie Mounsey hit a jumper to push the lead back to nine points. A
Jessica Wayne jumper gave Emporia State a 38-30 lead at the break.

Coming out of the locker rooms Wayne scored two buckets in 34 seconds to push the lead to 42-30 and force another early period timeout by Northern State. Four points from Jobe followed by a steal and layup by
Fredricka Sheats gave Emporia State a 20 point lead at 58-38 with 2:57 left in the third quarter. Northern State scored the only points the rest of the quarter as the Lady Hornets headed to the fourth leading 58-40.

Mounsey gave Emporia State their largest lead at 63-41 with 7:13 left in the game with her second three-pointer of the day. The Wolves would not get closer than 16 points the rest of the way as the Lady Hornets settled for the 75-57 victory.

The Lady Hornets placed four players in double figures led by
Tre'Zure Jobe with 19 points.
Jessica Wayne scored 18 points with seven rebounds, four steals, three assists and a block. They were joined in double figures by
Morgan Laudan and
Fredricka Sheats with ten points each.

Emporia State will stay in South Dakota to take on Sioux Falls on Tuesday. Tip-off from the Stewart Center in Sioux Falls, S.D. is set for 5:30 p.m.
