Toby Wynn has announced the addition of three players that will be attending Emporia State next year and playing for the Lady Hornets. Ehlaina Hartman, Emily Weathers and Addison Hooper will all be joining the Lady Hornets as freshmen next season.
"We are extremely excited and thrilled to add three high quality signees to our 2020 Lady Hornet signing class," said Wynn. "All three of these ladies embody what being a Lady Hornet is all about. With these three signees we are adding speed, athleticism, scoring, shooting, and more depth to our team." Â
Hartman is a 5-10 wing from Spearville,Kan. She was a second-team All-State selection and first-team All-League selection while averaging 16 points, 7 rebounds, 3 steals, 2 blocks, 2 assists. According to Prep Girl Hoops she is the 20th ranked player in the state of Kansas in the 2020 class. Hartman is also a two-time Class 2A State Runner-Up in volleyball, a three-time track and field state qualifier and a 2018 state qualifier in softball.
"When I first saw Ehlaina play this past spring with her AAU team she was playing a very good team from Texas and her competitiveness and toughness just stood out to me," said Wynn. "Then when you add in the fact she's a very skilled lefty that can play multiple positions and score the basketball, she became someone we recruited immediately. Not only is she a very good player she's also excellent in the classroom and will be a great representative of Lady Hornet Basketball."
Weathers is a 5-11 forward from Scott City HS. She was an Honorable Mention All-State selection and first-team All-League selection while averaging 13 points, 7 rebounds, 3 steals. She is the 13th ranked player in the state of Kansas in the 2020 class according to Prep Girl Hoops. Weathers also is a member of the volleyball team and a three-time track and field state qualifier and was a member of the 2018 State Championship 4x400m Relay Team.
"We are very excited about adding Emily to the Lady Hornet Program. She is a tremendous athlete, has a great work ethic, can really score the basketball, and is an outstanding student in the classroom," said Wynn. "Her coach in Scott City, Sarah McCormick (Wells), is a former Lady Hornet and when I spoke to her about Emily she was super excited for her and said she has all the characteristics and traits of a Lady Hornet."
Hooper is a 5-7 guard from Fort Worth (Texas) Christian School. She been recognized as a first-team All-State selection, 1st Team All-District selection. She has been named District MVP, District Offensive MVP and District Newcomer of the Year. Hooper is also a two time state qualifier in track and field and a state qualifier in softball.
"Addison is someone I identified this summer on the recruiting trail in Indianapolis," said Wynn. "When I saw her play the first thing I noticed was her speed and how fast she is. Then as I kept watching she displayed great competitive fire and she can really shoot the ball. The more I watched her the more I saw how complete of a player she is. Addison is also a great student in the classroom and someone who will be an outstanding ambassador for Lady Hornet Basketball."
"Emporia State Lady Hornet fans will enjoy getting to know all three of these ladies and watching them play," said Wynn.
The Lady Hornets are 2-1 on the season and head to South Dakota on Sunday for the first of two games against NSIC opponents. Emporia State will play Northern State on November 17 at 2:00 p.m. in Aberdeen, SD and then go to Sioux Falls on Tuesday, November 19. Â
