SEMI-FINALS PART DEAUX
Emporia State takes Northeastern State in the MIAA Tournament semifinals. It is the second straight year the Hornets and RiverHawks have met in the MIAA tourney twice before with Emporia State winning in Tahlequah in 2013 and in Emporia last year.

THE COACHES
Bryan Sailer is 75-72-23 in his ninth year at Emporia State and is the winningest coach in program history and seventh winningest coach in MIAA history. He has a career record of 134-95-25 that includes four years at the community college level. He has led the Hornets to five straight .500 or better regular seasons, four straight MIAA Tournaments and their first ever NCAA Tournament appearance.  He is 4-7-0 against Northeastern State.
Chase Wooten is 120-54-15 in his ninth season at Northeastern State. He is 7-4-0 against Emporia State.
 
SCOUTING THE HORNETS
Emporia State is 13-4-2, 7-2-2 in the MIAA and ranked seventh in the NCAA Central Regional Poll. Mackenzie Dimarco is ranked second in the nation in game winning goals and eighth in total goals.  Her 18 goals and eight game winners are both ESU single season records. Kennedy Hoffman has four goals. Gabby Crowell has three goals and three assists while Hannah Woolery has two goals and five assists. Aislinn Hughes has three goals while Tanna Benefiel and Daniela Cardona each have two goals. Emporia State has 12 matches with at least 15 shots while holding their opponents to under 15 shots in 15 matches. They have seven shutouts on the year with Jillian Patton recording six of them while combining with Tori Bailey on the seventh.

SCOUTING NORTHEASTERN STATE
The RiverHawks are 14-4-1, 8-3-0 in the MIAA and ranked fifth in the region. They were the only team not to record a tie in MIAA play. Mariah Nicolet is the leading scorer for Northeastern State with 12 goals and four assists. They have won eight of their last nine matches entering the semifinals.

SERIES HISTORY
Northeastern State leads the all-time series 7-4-0 while Emporia State leads 2-0 in MIAA Tournament play. The RiverHawks had won three straight prior to last year's Hornet win in the MIAA First Round in Emporia.

LAST TIME VS. THE RIVERHAWKS
The #14 Emporia State soccer team gave up a season high four goals and were held to season low eight shots in a 4-1 loss at Northeastern State. The RiverHawks scored just 3:26 into the match when Mariah Nicolet found Sara Rector who was able to sneak one past Tori Bailey for a 1-0 lead.  Eight minutes later Nicolet put a shot above a leaping Bailey to give Northeastern State a 2-0. Mackenzie Dimarco scored at the 58:00 mark for Emporia State to cut the lead in half, but 49 seconds later Paulina Chavez scored on a break away to put the RiverHawks back up by three goals.  Callie Rucker ended the scoring in the 78th minute as her shot was tipped as Bailey tried to deflect the ball. For the match Emporia State was outshot 17-8 as Northeastern State had an 8-4 advantage in shots on goal.

UP NEXT
The winner will advance to the MIAA Tournament Championship match against either Central Missouri or Central Oklahoma. Kick-off is set for 1:00 p.m. on Sunday.
