November 14, 2019-Emporia State put five players in double figures as the Lady Hornets defeated Northwestern Oklahoma 83-44 on Thursday night in White Auditorium. It is the 24
th straight home opening win for Emporia State.

The Lady Hornets scored the first seven points of the game and forced the Rangers into a timeout just 37 seconds into the game. An 11-0 run made it 18-5 with 4:17 left in first quarter and ended the quarter on a 9-0 run to lead by 20 after the first ten minutes of action.

Northwestern Oklahoma would outscore Emporia State 19-13 in the second quarter and pulled within 13 points twice in the period.Â
Mollie Mounsey hit a three-pointer with 15 seconds left to put the Lady Hornets up 40-24 before settling into a 40-26 lead at the break.

Emporia State retook control of the game with a 9-0 run to go up 51-28 with 3:57 left in the third quarter. They would stretch the lead to 29 at the end of the period as Mounsey connected on her sixth trey of the game with 25 seconds left in the quarter.

A 10-0 run made it 71-37 with 6:31 left in the game and Emporia State would lead by as many as 39 before settling for the 83-44 win.

Mounsey finished with 18 points on six of 11 three-pointers to lead five Lady Hornets in double figures.Â
Tre'Zure Jobe had 16 points and four assists while
Fredricka Sheats added 13 points.Â
Jessica Wayne and
Kali Martin each had 11 points with Wayne coming away with eight steals.

Emporia State will go back on the road for the next two games as they take on a pair of NSIC foes in South Dakota. The Lady Hornets will play at Northern State on Sunday with tip off from Aberdeen, S.D. set for 2:00 p.m.
