Mackenzie Dimarco tied the Emporia State single season record with her 17
th goal as the Hornets defeated Washburn 1-0 on Friday afternoon at the ESU Pitch.

The first half was a defensive battle with the two teams combining for just seven shots with Emporia State taking four and Washburn three. Only one of the shots was on goal and that came in just the 12th minute of action by the Ichabods Halle Hill.

The action picked up in the second half with the Hornets outshooting the Ichabods 8-4 in the second 45 minutes.

Emporia State finally got on the board with just 4:29 left in the match when
Aislinn Hughes found Dimarco cutting down the middle of the box and the leading goal scorer in the MIAA was able to put the ball past the Ichabod keeper in the lower middle of the goal.

For the match Emporia State outshot Washburn 12-7 as
Jillian Patton recorded her fifth clean sheet of the season. It was the seventh time this season the Hornets have kept their opponents to under ten shots in a match.

Emporia State will wrap up the regular season on Sunday against Neb.-Kearney. Kick-off is set for 2:00 p.m. on the ESU Pitch with Senior Day festivities beginning at approximately 1:45 p.m.

Dimarco tied Brandie Booth's Emporia State single season record with her 17
th goal of the season originally set in 2004.
Dimarco broke a tie with Booth for the most game winning goals in a season at Emporia State with her seventh game winner of the year.
