HOME COOKING
Emporia State will look to sweep the season series with Newman on Friday night as they begin their final four game home stand of the season. Following Newman the Hornets will take on Central Oklahoma on Saturday night with Missouri Southern and Pittsburg State coming to White Auditorium next weekend.

LAST ROTATION
Emporia State volleyball was swept by fourth ranked Washburn 25-7, 25-15, 25-11 on Tuesday night in Topeka.
The Ichabods jumped out to a 9-2lead to open the match and then closed the first set by scoring the final eight points for the 25-7 win.
The Hornets trailed 14-11 on a Madelyn Michaelis solo block in the second set before Washburn went on a 4-0 run fueled by three ESU errors to take an 18-11 lead. Emporia State pulled back within five at 19-14 before Washburn ended the set on a 6-1 run to take a 2-0 lead in the match.
A 10-0 run gave the Ichabods a 21-7 lead on the way to a match clinching 25-11 victory in the third set.
Yuchen Du led the Hornets with nine kills while Rylie Fornelli had 13 digs. Emporia State only had 19 assists as a team with Riley Bernskoetter finishing with eight and Emma Dixon seven.

THE COACHES
Bing Xu is in his 15th year as head coach for Emporia State. He holds a record of 286-186 and has led the Hornets to five NCAA Tournament appearances. He is 8-15 against Central Oklahoma and 8-0 against Newman.
Jose Lugo is 1-23 in his first season at Newman. He is 0-1 against Emporia State.
Edgar Miraku is 198-64 in his eighth season at Central Oklahoma. He is 14-3 against Emporia State.

SCOUTING THE HORNETS
Emporia State is 5-17, 1-13 in the MIAA. A total of 11 of their 19 opponents have been ranked or received votes in the AVCA National Poll. Emma Dixon is seventh in the MIAA in assists and needs 30 assists to move into the top five all-time at Emporia State. Aliyah Bernard is sixth in the MIAA in hitting percentage, Yuchen Du is eighth in kills and Rylie Fornelli is eighth in digs.

SCOUTING NEWMAN
The Jets are 1-23, 1-14 in their first year in the MIAA. Their one win is a five setter against Fort Hays State. Trinity Conley is fifth in the league in kills per set.

Emporia State has won all eight matches with Newman.

LAST TIME VS. THE JETS
Emporia State picked up a 25-15, 21-25, 25-22, 25-14 victory at Newman.  Yuchen Du had 17 kills on .289 hitting while Aliyah Bernard and Mikayla Simons each recorded 11 kills.  Rylie Fornelli had a team high 21 digs while Emma Dixon and Riley Berskoetter combined for 50 assists.

SCOUTING CENTRAL OKLAHOMA
The Bronchos are 16-9, 8-7 in the MIAA. Dominique Lipari is leading the MIAA in digs per set.

SERIES HISTORY
The Bronchos lead the all-time series 15-11.

LAST TIME VS. THE BRONCHOS
Emporia State was held to a negative hitting percentage in a 25-22, 25-18, 25-15 loss at Central Oklahoma. As a team Emporia State had 28 kills and 30 errors in 127 swings for a -.016 hitting percentage. Yuchen Du led the Hornets with eight kills and added nine assists. Rylie Fornelli had a team high 14 digs for Emporia State while Riley Bernskoetter had 11 of Emporia State's 27 assists on the night.

The Hornets return to White Auditorium for their final weekend of home play starting with Missouri Southern on November 8. First serve is set for 6:00 p.m.
