October 27, 2019-Emporia State took #5 Central Missouri to overtime before falling 3-2 on Sunday afternoon in Warrensburg, Mo.

The Jennies got on the board first on a goal by Cassie Forcellini in the 22
nd minute. The Hornets answered three minutes later when
Kennedy Hoffman got loose in front of the goal and took a pass from
Gaby Crowell to even the match at 1-1.

The score remained deadlocked over the next 57 minutes until
Mackenzie Dimarco got behind the Jennies defense and drove home her 16
th goal of the season to give the Hornets a 2-1 lead. A minute and a half later a foul was called on the Hornets in the box and Haley Freeman converted the penalty kick for UCM to tie the score with 5:40 left in regulation.

The match went to overtime with neither team getting a shot until Dimarco missed from about 35 yards out 4:45 into the extra time. Nayeli Gallo would score the golden goal for Central Missouri 46 seconds later when her shot from just outside the box got over
Jillian Patton into the upper left corner of the goal.

For the match Emporia State outshot Central Missouri 15-12 with the teams being even in shots on goal with seven. The Jennies had a 12-1 advantage in corner kicks in the match.

Emporia State will return to the ESU Pitch for their final two regular season matches this weekend. Action will begin on Friday, November 1 when they play host to Washburn. Kick-off of the Turnpike Tussle is set for 3:00 p.m.
