ANOTHER DAY, ANOTHER RANKED TEAM
The Hornets travel to Kearney,Neb. on Tuesday night for their third straight match against a top 15 team when they play at #2 Neb.-Kearney. It will be the seventh match against a nationally ranked team so far this season.

LAST ROTATION
Playing their second straight top 15 team Emporia State was swept by #9 Central Missouri 25-19, 25-11, 25-15 on Saturday night at White Auditorium.
The Jennies rolled to an 8-0 lead to start the match and would lead 15-5.  Down 18-8 the Hornets went on a 10-2 run to pull within 20-18.  UCM would then finish the set with a 5-1 run to take a 1-0 lead.
Emporia State trailed 14-9 in the second set before Central Missouri closed the set on an 11-2 run to take a 2-0 lead in the match.
There were four ties and three lead changes in the first 19 points of the third set. The Hornets led 9-7 before the Jennies went on a 10-1 run to take a 17-10 lead.  Emporia State was within five when Central Missouri scored the final five points of the match to finish off the sweep.
Yuchen Du had a team high 15 kills with three digs and two block assists but was the only Hornet with more than five kills.  Rylie Fornelli had led Emporia State with 14 digs while Emma Dixon had 21 assists.

THE COACHES
Bing Xu is in his 15th year as head coach for Emporia State. He holds a record of 286-183 and has led the Hornets to five NCAA Tournament appearances. He is 0-18 against Neb.-Kearney.
Rick Squiers is 657-88 in his 21st season as head coach at Nebraska Kearney and has a career record of 863-147 in his 27th year as a four year collegiate coach. He is 20-0 against Emporia State.

SCOUTING THE HORNETS
Emporia State is 5-14, 1-10 in the MIAA. Ten of their 19 opponents were ranked or received votes in the AVCA National Poll. Emma Dixon is seventh in the MIAA in assists and needs 91 assists to move into the top five all-time at Emporia State. Aliyah Bernard is fifth in the MIAA in hitting percentage while Yuchen Du ranks eighth in the league in kills per set

SCOUTING NEB.-KEARNEY
The Lopers are 20-0 on the season and ranked #2 in this week's AVCA National Poll. They lead the league in hitting percentage, opponent hitting percentage, opponent aces and digs. Emma Benton leads the league in service aces while Maddie Squiers is fourth in the MIAA in assists and Lindsay Nottlemann is fifth in digs.

SERIES HISTORY
The Lopers lead the all-time series 41-10 and have won 22 straight dating back to 1990.

LAST TIME VS. THE LOPERS
Emporia State came out strong to begin the match before falling in three sets to #6 Neb.-Kearney. In the opening set the Hornets would go up 15-11 before the Lopers went on a 10-2 run to take control. ESU would close to 21-19 before UNK scored the final three points for a 25-19 win. The Lopers scored the first four points and never looked back in a 25-10 second set victory. The third set was tight through the first 30 points with neither team taking more than a two point lead.  Neb.-Kearney would use a 9-1 run to get to set point at 24-15, but the Hornets were able to fight off four match points before falling 25-19. Yuchen Du led Emporia State with six kills Neb.-Kearney out dug the Hornets 52-35 on the night.

The Hornets take on Missouri Western on Saturday night in St. Joseph, Mo. First serve is set for 6:00 p.m.
