October 13, 2019-The #14 Emporia State soccer team gave up a season high four goals and were held to season low eight shots in a 4-1 loss at Northeastern State on Sunday afternoon.

The RiverHawks scored just 3:26 into the match when Mariah Nicolet found Sara Rector who was able to sneak one past
Tori Bailey for a 1-0 lead. Eight minutes later Nicolet put a shot above a leaping Bailey to give Northeastern State a 2-0.

Mackenzie Dimarco scored at the 58:00 mark for Emporia State to cut the lead in half, but 49 seconds later Paulina Chavez scored on a break away to put the RiverHawks back up by three goals. Callie Rucker ended the scoring in the 78
th minute as her shot was tipped as Bailey tried to deflect the ball.

For the match Emporia State was outshot 17-8 as Northeastern State had an 8-4 advantage in shots on goal. The eight shots are the fewest by the Hornets since they were held to six in a 2-1 loss at Central Oklahoma on October12, 2018. Northeastern State's 17 shots and four goals are the most by a Hornet opponent since the season opener on September 6 when Rockhurst defeated Emporia State 4-3 in overtime with 21 shots.

The next action for #14 Emporia State will be on Friday, October 18 when they take on #24 Central Oklahoma on the ESU Pitch. Kick-off for the first athletic competition of Emporia State's homecoming weekend is set for 3:00 p.m.
