MIAA ACTION
Emporia State continues non-conference play on Friday against MIAA opponent Nebraska Kearney at 4:00 p.m. at the ESU Pitch. The Hornets open conference play on Sunday in a rematch from just a week ago against Fort Hays State at 2:00 p.m. at the ESU Pitch.
THE COACHES
Bryan Sailer is 52-63-21 in his eighth year at Emporia State and is the winningest coach in program history. He has a career record of 111-86-23 that includes coaching four years at the community college level.
Chloe Roberts is in her second season as the head coach of the women's soccer team at Nebraska Kearney.
Blake Reynolds is in his second season as the head coach of the women's soccer team at Fort Hays State.
LAST TIME OUT
On Friday, the Hornets played to their first draw of the season in a 1-1 tie at Fort Hays State. The Hornets out-shot the Tigers 12-8 in the match. Shelby Keyes scored for the Hornets while Olympia Katsourdis scored for Fort Hays State.
On Sunday, the Hornets hosted Washburn in their home opener for the Turnpike Tussle. The Hornets controlled the game early in the match as Maria Walden scored on a free kick from 20 yards out in the 14th minute. McKayla Brady extended the lead to 2-0 with a shot from the left sided into the back of the net in the 30th minute. In the second half the Hornets, Aislinn Hughes capped off scoring for the match with a shot from the right side to give the Hornets the 3-0 lead.

Emporia State is 4-1-1 on the season in non-conference play. The Hornets are led by senior Maria Walden and freshman, Rachel Marshall with two goals each. Jacki Martinek, Gaby Crowell, Kennedy Hoffman, Olivia Miller, Tanna Benefiel, Shelby Keyes, McKayla Brady and Emily Goodrow each add one goal. Jillian Patton has played 540:15 minutes for the Hornets allowing six goals and has 18 saves with three shut-outs.
ABOUT NEBRASKA KEARNEY
Nebraska Kearney is 2-4-0 on the season and have been out-shot 63-56 by their opponents. The Lopers are led by Ciera Clark with two goals on the season followed by Tori Weber and Maddie Love each with one. Allie Prososki has played 360 minutes in goal for the Lopers with four goals against and 18 saves.

Emporia State soccer shut out Nebraska Kearney and scored a golden goal to win 1-0 over the Lopers. The Hornets will advance to the MIAA Tournament with the win.

Fort Hays State is 2-2-2 on the season and have been out-shot 78-67 by their opponents. The Tigers are led by Chloe Montano with three goals. Vianei Sanchez and Cailey Perkins each add two goals for the Tigers while Darby Hirsch has one. Megan Kneefel has played all 582:15 minutes in goal for the Tigers with eight goals against and 35 saves.
LAST TIME AGAINST THE TIGERS
Emporia State tied 1-1 with Fort Hays State in non-conference action. There wasn't much action throughout the game until the final 15 minutes of regulation time. In the 75th minute of the match, Shelby Keyes took a steal from a clearing attempt to give the Hornets the 1-0 lead. In the 83rd minute, the Tigers Olympia Katsouridis made a header goal to equalize the match at 1-1. Neither team would score in overtime periods.
