NON-CONFERENCE MIAA PLAY
Emporia State continues non-conference play against MIAA opponents as the Hornets travel to Fort Hays State on Friday September 14. The Hornets wrap up the weekend against Washburn in the Turnpike Tussle and the Hornets home opener.

THE COACHES
Bryan Sailer is 51-63-20 beginning his eighth year at Emporia State and is the winningest coach in program history. He has a career record of 110-86-22 that includes coaching four years at the community col¬lege level.
Blake Reynolds is in his second season as the head coach of the women's soccer team at Fort Hays State.
Davy Phillips is in his second season as the head coach for the Washburn women's soccer team.

LAST TIME OUT
Emporia State fought hard in a physical match against Missouri S&T but fell 4-2 in the final. The Hornets were outshot 16-10 in the match with the Miners taking five corners to just four for the Hornets. Maria Walden and Olivia Miller led the Hornets with one goal each while Gaby Crowell and Denaya Evans each had an assist.
Emporia State Soccer held off Drury 2-0 for their second shut-out of the season. The Hornets took control of the match with a header goal from Rachel Marshall (second of the season) on an assist from Jacki Martinek in the 27th minute. Gaby Crowell extended the lead to 2-0 in the 30th minute when she took a pass from Makayla Brady for a goal.

ABOUT THE HORNETS
Emporia State started the season 3-1-0 in non-conference play. The Hornets are led by freshman, Rachel Marshall with two goals on the season. Jacki Martinek, Gaby Crowell, Kennedy Hoffman, Olivia Miller, Tanna Benefiel, Maria Walden and Emily Goodrow each add one goal for the Hornets. Jillian Patton has played all 360 minutes for the Hornets allowing five goals and has 16 saves with two shut-outs.

ABOUT FORT HAYS STATE
Fort Hays State is 1-2-1 on the season and have been out-shot 61-45 by their opponents. The Tigers are led by Chloe Montano with three goals on a .600 shot percentage. Vianei Sanchez and Cailey Perkins each add two goals for the Tigers. Nikita Woods has two assists while Darby Hirsch, Shayla Podlena, Sanchez and Montano each add one. Megan Kneefel has played all 380 minutes in goal for the tigers with 28 saves.

LAST TIME AGAINST THE TIGERS
Emporia State soccer fell 2-0 against Fort Hays State. The Hornets were out shot by the Tigers 18-7 in the 2-0 loss. Both of Ft. Hays States goals came in the second half. The first goal was scored by Kylie Thomas on a header in the 73rd minute. Goal two was scored by Eden Stoddard in the 87th minute. This will be the 13th meeting between the Hornets and the Tigers. The Tigers lead the all-time series 7-2-3.

ABOUT WASHBURN
Washburn is 2-2-0 to start the 2018 season and has out-shot opponents 67-36 through four games. The Ichabods are led by Josie Rimmer with two goals followed by Tera Lynch, Ryanne Serrone-Brown, Mackenzie Heiman and Olivia Grasso each with one. Riley Trent has started all four games for Washburn in goal and has ten saves with a record of 1-2.

LAST TURNPIKE TUSSLE
Emporia State won 3-0 over Washburn in the Turnpike Tussle. The Hornets were outshot 17-11 on the match but were able to hold on to the shut out on goalkeeper, Bethany Reeves' seven saves in the match. This will be the 30th meeting of the Turnpike Tussle between the Hornets and the Ichabods. Washburn leads the all-time series 14-11-4.

Emporia State continues their home stand against Nebraska Kearney on September 21 before opening MIAA action on September 23 against Fort Hays State at the ESU Pitch.
