April 20, 2018- Emporia State baseball fell 4-1 to Central Missouri in Warrensburg, Mo. on Friday. The Hornets are now 22-19 on the season, 13-15 in the MIAA.

The Mules got on the board first with two runs on three hits and one Hornet error in the bottom of the first inning. After retiring Hornet batters with no hits, Central Missouri extended their lead to 4-0 over the Hornets with two runs on four hits in the bottom of the second.

After exchanging outs four five innings the Hornets got on the board with one run in the top of the eighth. Trevor Turner double down the left field line and advanced to third on a ground out from Kyle Lopez. Turner scored on a double from Brian Grove down the right field line to get the Hornets on the board to end scoring in the game 4-1.

The Hornets recorded five hits at the plate from five different players including Brian Grove, Mack Gowing, Mason Brown, Kaden Shaffer and Trevor Turner. Turner scored the lone run for the Hornets.

Seth Holman started on the mound for the Hornets and pitched the complete game going 8.0 innings allowing 11 hits for four runs with six K's.

The Hornets will be back in action on Saturday as they take on Central Missouri in game two of the three game series.
