30 Kaden Shaffer

Biography

In 2017, Shaffer was voted 2nd Team All-MIAA and was the Gold Glove winning first basemen.  He had a .323 batting average, a .528 slugging percentage and a .430 on base percentage. He had a team high 53 starts. Shaffer had 63 hits that included 10 doubles, three triples and eight home runs. He scored 53 runs and brought in 48 RBI. Shaffer walked 32 times and has stolen 14 bases. Against Missouri Southern in an extended game due to weather, he had a walk-off home run to win 5-4 after Emporia State had been trailing 3-1 heading into the sixth inning. On April 9 Shaffer hit a walk-off, bases loaded single against Central Missouri for a 9-8 Hornet win after trailing 8-6 headed into the ninth inning. 

As a sophomore in the 2015 season at Fort Scott Community College, Shaffer had a .394 batting average with an on base percentage of .473. He finished the year with 85 hits including 18 doubles, one triple, ten home runs, 56 RBIs and 64 runs scored. Shaffer was named to the All-Conference team.

During his freshman season in 2014 at Fort Scott Community College, Shaffer had a .341 batting average with a .432 on base percentage. He racked up 62 hits that included eight doubles, three triples, seven home runs, 33 RBIs and 48 runs scored. Shaffer was named to the All-Conference team.

Shaffer is a transfer from Fort Scott Community College who attended Ottawa High School.

Shaffer is majoring in Secondary Education and is the son of Evan and Dee Shaffer.
