March 24, 2018-In a battle of nationally ranked teams the #40 Emporia State men's tennis team fell 7-2 to #16 Southwest Baptist on Saturday afternoon at the EHS Courts.
SBU picked up wins at #1 and #2 doubles before Taylor Nelson and Janne Jacobi picked up an 8-5 win at #3 doubles. The Bearcats won the first five completed singles matches before Charles Gortzounian picked up a 6-1, 7-6 (7-2) victory at #2 singles to end the dual.
The Emporia State women were not able to field a team and had to forfeit their match with SBU.
The Hornet men are not scheduled to compete again for ten days. Their next action is against Rockurst on April 3 in Kansas City, Mo. The Emporia State women are scheduled to take on Central Oklahoma on March 30 in Edmond, Okla.
