NCAA TOURNAMENT
Emporia State received their first ever NCAA Tournament bid and will be the #5 seed in the Central Region. The Hornets face off against the #4 seed Minnesota State-Mankato in Edmond, Okla. on Friday, November 9.  

THE COACHES
Bryan Sailer is 62-67-21 in his eighth year at Emporia State and is the winningest coach in program history. He has a career record of 121-90-23 that includes coaching four years at the community college level. He has led the Hornets to five straight .500 or better regular seasons, three straight MIAA Tournaments and their first ever NCAA Tournament appearance.

LAST TIME OUT
Emporia State fell 7-1 to Central Missouri in the MIAA Tournament semi-final match. The Jennies got on the board first, with Makayla Martin scoring one on one nine minutes into the match. UCM went up 2-0 just three minutes later when Jada Scott scored from 12 yards out.  Courtney Killiam made it 3-0 in the 21st minute and Makayla Toth pushed it to 4-0 under three minutes later.  Scott got her second goal of the match with just 11:18 left in the half to give the Jennies a 5-0 lead at the half. Emporia State got on the board in the 67th minute on a McKayla Brady penalty kick. Central Missouri answered just 1:09 later when Kelsey Mueller scored off a free kick from 30 yards out and then made it 7-1 in the 70th minute when Toth scored her second goal of the match in another one on one break away.

ABOUT THE HORNETS
Emporia State is 14-5-1 on the season, 8-3-0 in the MIAA recording the best record in program history. The Hornets are in the NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history as the #5 seed. They have outshot opponents 310-212 on the season with an on goal advantage of 130-100. The Hornets have an advantage in corner kicks of 117-57.
On The Field
The Hornets have 12 players with at least one goal led by Rachel Marshall with seven followed by Kennedy Hoffman with six, Maria Walden, Mckayla Brady and Jacki Martinek with four, Tanna Benefiel, Gaby Crowell and Aislinn Hughes each with three and Shelby Keyes with two goals. Emily Goodrow, Daniela Cardona and Olivia Miller add one goal each for the Hornets. Jillian Patton has played 1667:05 minutes for the Hornets, starting in 18 games. She has seven solo shut-outs and 68 saves. Chiara Soergel has played in three games, 154:45 with seven saves and two total shut-outs.

ABOUT #21 MINNESOTA STATE
Minnesota State is 18-2-1 on the season, 13-1-1 in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference. The Mavericks are led by Dakota Wendell with 15 goals followed by Morgan Cottew with ten and Julia Zach with seven. They have 14 over players with at least one goal on the season. Alexa Rabune has played and started in all 21 games in goal for the Mavericks. She has 72 saves and 12 goals against for a save percentage of .857. The Mavericks have made it to NCAA postseason play for the 12th time with a record of 7-9-5 with a 2-3 record in shootout results.

MAVERICKS LAST TIME OUT
Minnesota State took home the NSIC Tournament championship as the #2 seed. The Mavericks defeated #4 seed Minot State 1-0. Morgan Cottew scored the game winning goal for the Mavericks in the 60th minute of the match.

SERIES HISTORY
This will be the first meeting between Emporia State and Minnesota State.

UP NEXT
With a win, the Hornets advance to the NCAA Tournament round of 32. The Hornets would face the winner of Central Region #1 seed Central Oklahoma and #8 seed Oklahoma Baptist. The match will be held on Sunday, November 11 at 1:00 p.m. in Edmond Oklahoma.
