After a weekend in Missouri, Emporia State stays at home for a pair of matches at the ESU Pitch. On Friday, the Hornets take on Missouri Southern at 3:00 p.m. before playing host to Southwest Baptist on Sunday at 2:00 p.m.
THE COACHES
Bryan Sailer is 55-64-21 in his eighth year at Emporia State and is the winningest coach in program history. He has a career record of 114-87-23 that includes coaching four years at the community college level.
Chad Edwards is in his eighth season as the head coach of the women's soccer team at Missouri Western.
Marc Gordon is in his first season as the head coach of the women's soccer team at Northwest Missouri.
LAST TIME OUT
Emporia State Soccer defeated Northwest Missouri 3-0 in Maryville, Mo. With the win, the Hornets continued with the best start through ten games in Emporia State womens soccer history. The Hornets first struck in the 77th minute when Tanna Benefiel scored on a penalty kick to take the 1-0 lead. Five minutes later, Aislinn Hughes sent a shot into the back of the net to extend the Hornets lead to 2-0 81:48 into the match. Jacki Martinek capped scoring in the game just 39 seconds later when she sent an assist from Kennedy Hoffman into the back of the net in the 83rd minute of the match. The back to back goals from Hughes and Martinek are the first goals scored within one minute of each other since Tanna Benefiel and Erica Self scored 51 seconds apart against FHSU on Sept. 17, 2017 and the fastest back to back goals by the Hornets since Shannon Thomas scored two goals just 35 seconds apart agianst Missouri Southern on Oct. 27, 2013.
ABOUT THE HORNETS
Emporia State is 7-2-1 on the season, 2-1-0 in the MIAA for the best start in program history. The Hornets have out-shot opponents 171-106 on the season with 74-45 shots on goal. The Hornets have outscored opponents 23-12.

The Hornets have 12 players with at least one goal led by Maria Walden and Rachel Marshall with four each followed by Tanna Benefiel with three and Shelby Keyes, Aislinn Hughes and Jacki Martinek each with two goals. Missouri Southern is 6-2-2 on the season, 3-0-1 in the MIAA. Bailey Belcher and Sarah Tatum lead the Lions with three goals each followed by Meredith Belrose, Alex McCord, Courtney Marten and Julia Liberty each with two goals. Luz Galindo has played 772:43 in goal with 44 saves.
LAST TIME AGAINST THE LIONS
Emporia State won 3-2 over Missouri Southern in overtime in Joplin, Mo. The Hornets were down 2-0 at the half but started their comeback in the 64th minute on a goal from Tanna Benefiel. Savannah Hallier tied the game at 2-2 with 15:18 left and Olivia Miller took the first scoring opportunity in overtime for the golden goal to give the Hornets the 3-2 lead.
ABOUT SOUTHWEST BAPTIST
Southwest Baptist is 0-9-1 on the season, 0-3-0 in the MIAA. Reagan Edwards, Maya Cofiled and Tessa Wagner lead the Bearcats with two goals each. Ashlyn Gibbs has played 920 minutes in goal for the Bearcats with 68 saves.

Emporia State defeated Southwest Baptist 3-0 in Bolivar, Mo. In the shut-out win, the Hornets out-shot the Bearcats 16-14. Kennedy Hoffman, Tanna Benefiel and Olivia Miller each scored one goal for the Hornets in the match.
