October 27, 2018- Emporia State Volleyball fell in straight sets to Lindenwood in White Auditorium on Saturday. The Hornets fall to 12-16 on the season, 6-9 in the MIAA with the loss.
After two ties early in the first set, Lindenwood took the lead at 6-3. The Hornets fought back and forth with the Lions before Lindenwood used a 6-0 run to extend their lead to 17-7. The Hornets were unable to recover as the Lions went on to win set one 25-15.
The Hornets used an early 3-0 run to take a 4-2 lead over the Lions in set two. The Lions fought back to take the lead at 6-8. The Hornets closed the gap to within one point at 11-10 before the Lions pushed their lead to 15-10 with a 4-0 run. The Lions would not relinquish their lead en route to a 25-17 set two win.
The Hornets jumped out to a 13-7 lead in set three, but Lindenwood fought their way back into the game to tie the score at 17-17. After four tie scores and three lead changes, the Lions scored the final two points of the set to take the 25-23 set win and the 3-0 match win.
The Hornets were led by Taylor Otting with seven kills followed by Yuchen Du with six and Tatum Graves with five. Emma dixon led the Hornets with 19 assists while Allie Maloney led all players with 18 digs.
The Hornets will be back in action on Sunday as they play host to Central Missouri in White Auditorium.
