October 20, 2018- Emporia State Volleyball defeated Fort Hays State 3-0 on Saturday in Hays, Kan. With the win the Hornets wrap up their 2018 road season.
The Hornets jumped out with a 5-2 lead in set one before the Tigers used a 5-0 run to take the lead 8-6. The Hornets used a 4-0 and 3-0 run to tie the set at 19-19 before taking the lead and finishing the set 25-23 to take the 1-0 match lead.
The Tigers took an early 4-1 lead in the second set. Trailing 16-12, the Hornets used a 4-0 run to tie the set at 16-16. There would be five tie scores in the remainder of the set before the Hornets take the lead at 22-21 and finish the set 25-22 taking the 2-0 match lead.
In set three, the Hornets took an early 5-2 lead. After three tie scores the Hornets never relinquished the lead using a 10-0 run to push their lead to 24-14. The Tigers scored three straight points before the Hornets finish the set 25-17 to take the match 3-0.
The Hornets were led by Taylor Otting who recorded a double-double with 11 kills and 14 digs. Jordan Evans and Emma Dixon also recorded a double-double. Evans had 11 kills and 13 digs while Dixon recorded 44 assists and 10 digs. Allie Maloney led the Hornets with 16 digs.
The Hornets will be back in action on Saturday, October 27Â as they host Lindenwood in White Auditorium
