October 12, 2018- Emporia State fell in straight set to Northwest Missouri on Friday in White Auditorium. The Hornets fall to 10-13 on the season, 4-6 in the MIAA with the loss.
Although keeping the score close in the early points of the first set, the Hornets were unable to find their footing as the Bearcats took set one 25-17. Set two continued similar to set one as the Hornets trailed 12-7 after the Bearcats used a 7-2 run to take the lead from a tie score at 5-5. The Bearcats held off the Hornets attack en route to a 25-17 set two win. Trailing 2-0 in the match, the Hornets were unable to regain momentum over the Bearcats in the third set as they jumped out to an early 6-1 lead. The Bearcats continued their attack to finish the match with a 25-11 set win.
The Hornets were led by Taylor Otting with 12 kills followed by Tatum Graves with nine and Jordan Evans with eight. Emma Dixon led the Hornets with 20 assists while Allie Maloney had 13 digs.
The Hornets will be back in action on Saturday as they take on Missouri Western as the Hornets host their annual dig pink game in support of breast cancer.
