HEADING SOUTH
After a weekend at home, Emporia State heads South to take on two MIAA opponents in Oklahoma. The Hornets face #11 Central Oklahoma on Friday, October 12 before taking on Northeastern State on Sunday, October 14.
THE COACHES
Bryan Sailer is 57-64-21 in his eighth year at Emporia State and is the winningest coach in program history. He has a career record of 116-87-23 that includes coaching four years at the community college level.
Mike Cook is in his 21st season as the head coach of the women's soccer team at Central Oklahoma.
Chase Wooten is in his eighth season as the head coach of the women's soccer team at Northeastern State.
LAST TIME OUT
On Friday, the Hornets defeated Missouri Southern 2-1 at the ESU Pitch. McKayla Brady scored her second goal of the season in the match while Rachel Marshall's game winning goal was her fifth goal of the season. Chiara Soergel started and played the first half in goal for the Hornets with one save and one goal allowed. Jillian Patton finished the match in goal after starting the second half.
On Sunday, Emporia State defeated Southwest Baptist 1-0 on Sunday despite bad weather at the ESU Pitch. Rachel Marshall scored the lone goal of the match for the Hornets while Jacki Martinek had the only assist. Jillian Patton played the full 90 minutes in goal for the Hornets with 8 saves to record a shut-out.
The Hornets continued their undefeated streak at home with the two wins to stay 5-0-0 at the ESU Pitch.

LAST TIME AGAINST THE BRONCHOS
Emporia State finished in a 2-2 draw with Central Oklahoma on October 1, 2017. Tanna Benefiel scored in the 55th minute of the match on an assist from Maria Walden to tie it at 1-1. After the Bronchos regained the lead, Olivia Miller took an assist from Walden to tie the match in the 74th minute and force overtime.
ABOUT NORTHEASTERN STATE
Northeastern State is 6-5-1 on the season, 0-4-1 in the MIAA. The RiverHawks are led by Mariah Nicolet with five goals followed by Valeriia Pankratova, Paulina Chavez, Meagan Chase and Paige Lorenzo with three goals each.
LAST TIME AGAINST THE RIVERHAWKS
Emporia State fell 4-1 to Northeastern State at the ESU Pitch on Sept. 29, 2017. Despite taking the lead in the 11th minute, the Hornets were unable to hold off the RiverHawks attack as they scored four goals to take the win.
